Mastering the V60 coffee drip

Mastering the V60 coffee drip

The V60 is a cone shaped dripper where the ground coffee sits in a cone shaped filter. Water is poured on top and drips through the coffee down into a cup.

What do I need?

  • Grab some Coffee Hound coarse ground coffee.
  • Your kettle.
  • A coffee scales.
  • A timer.
  • Your V60 dripper.
  • V60 filter papers.

Our method:

  • Boil your kettle.
  • Take a filter paper and fold back the creases on the bottom and sides.
  • Add the filter paper into your V60 and add some water to dampen and wash the filter paper.
  • Place the V60 on top of your mug and place on top of the scales.
  • Zero the scales and weigh out approx 15 grams of coffee.
  • Once the kettle is boiled, open the lid to let out some steam and let the water cool slightly.
  • With the cup on the scales, zero the scales and then pour out approx 80 grams (80 ml) of water to soak the coffee.
  • Wait for about 30 secs.
  • Pour another 70 grams (70 ml) of water in a circular motion into the filter again. This will give you approx 150 grams (150 ml) of water.
  • Wait again until the coffee has filtered through.
  • As the coffee looks as though it's almost completely through, pour another 50 grams (50 ml) of water into the filter.
  • This should give you approx 200 grams (200 ml) of water in toal.
  • Sit back and enjoy!
