How should I store my coffee?

How should I store my coffee?

This is an absolute great question, and one we try and tell people about every chance we get. Because let's be honest, when we have a cup of coffee we want it to be the absolute best it can be, and not some gone off, rank cup of stale crap!

Below are a few helpful tips that you can do at home to ensure you get the best brews from your coffee.

  • Keep the coffee airtight. Our bags are meant to be resealed, so the coffee can be kept this way when being stored.
  • If the bag can’t be resealed then simply transfer it to an airtight container with a lid or a special coffee storing jar.
  • Keep the coffee in a dark place, especially if being stored in glass jars. Light rapidly accelerates the staling of coffee, especially direct sunlight.
  • Don’t put it in the refrigerator. A lot of people think this makes a difference, but this doesn’t extend the life of your coffee. Also if you’ve got some strong smelling foods in the fridge, the coffee can take on these smells.
  • Keep it dry. If you can’t keep it in an airtight container, then at least try and avoid a humid environment.
  • Storing coffee for a long period of time needs to be done in the freezer. But again it needs to be kept airtight. When you do want to start using it, just bring out the amount you are planning to use and defrost it properly.
